Many tourists think Venice is a one-day destination, but like any other city in Italy, it deserves more time. Even two days aren’t enough to fully experience its beauty, but it’s a good start.
While Venice is small enough to cross in a day, we want you to explore it more deeply. That’s why we’ve created this two-day Venice itinerary for you to use during your visit.
VENICE ITINERARY: DAY 1
After checking in and dropping off your luggage at our hotel, head to the iconic Rialto Bridge, which is just a ten-minute walk away. Before crossing the bridge, stop by the Fontego dei Tedeschi to visit its rooftop terrace for stunning views of the city.
Finding St. Mark’s Square from here is straightforward, as the path is well-marked with road signs.
Once at St. Mark’s Square, you’ll find plenty to do. The Basilica is free to enter, with just a short queue. The Doge’s Palace and the Bridge of Sighs are essential stops, and tickets can be purchased on-site or online, especially if you add them to your Venezia Unica Card.
Nearby, the Correr Museum offers an extensive collection of Venetian paintings from the early 16th century and exhibits about the history of the Serenissima. It’s a great spot to dive into Venetian art and history.
If you have extra time, consider climbing the St. Mark’s bell tower, preferably at sunset for an unforgettable view.
VENICE ITINERARY: DAY 2
After covering the main landmarks on day one, day two focuses on some lesser-known gems. Start with the Jewish Ghetto, a 25 minute walk from our hotel, then visit the unique church of Santa Maria dei Miracoli.
To wrap up your two-day adventure, explore the Acqua Alta bookshop, an unusual and charming spot. Located just a six-minute walk from Santa Maria dei Miracoli, this bookshop is like no other, featuring a gondola inside and books stored on shelves and in bathtubs.
Don’t miss the quirky staircase in the backyard, made entirely of books. It’s a perfect ending to your unique Venice experience.
